Many EV drivers won’t need to replace their EV’s battery based on independent research by Recurrent (March 2023) which suggests that they last longer than the manufacturers’ warranty (average is 8-12 years or 100K miles).  Older models with early battery technology did show a higher replacement rate (about 5%) but this has improved substantially with newer models (about 1.5%).  Recycling bonus: minerals recycled from old batteries show no loss of performance when re-used! Battery performance was shown to decline to 80% after a decade but varied depending on driving habits, weather factors and other variables, such as amount of DC Fast charging use vs use of Level 2 charging.  EV charger installation at home with a Level 2 charger is convenient and may help ensure longer battery life.
